If you want to catch the ferry to the Island of Elba you have to get off the train at Piombino Marittima, the small railway station right opposite the quays.
Whether you're coming from the north or from the south you will have to change at Campiglia Marittima; here there is a train or bus that in only 20 minutes will take you right to Piombino Marittima.
For further information concerning train times please look up the official Trenitalia website.
As regards the bus times the service is run by the Tiemme Public Transport Association.
The buses leave from the small square opposite the train station in Campiglia Marittima. The bus stops first at the Main Station then at the Station in Piombini Marittima.
The train ticket to and from Piombino Marittima also covers the bus journey to and from Campiglia-Piombino.
A single bus ticket costs 2.10 euros, but 3,00 euros if you buy it on board.
For those coming from or via Florence, there is a Florence - Piombino BUS service that connects Florence train station with Piombino Marittima.
Hint from Infoelba: get any information concerning times and tickets of your return journey before you leave: the ticket office in Piombino Marittima train station is closed and there is only one automatic ticket machine, and there are very few train ticket offices or travel agencies that sell FFSS train tickets in Elba.
