The frequency of the departures depends on the period of the year.
During the summer months, many crossing are effected per day from Piombino to Portoferraio.

The duration of the crossing is circa one hour with 50% of arrivals at Portoferraio.
(Toremar also navigates to Rio Marina and PortoAzzuro).

There is a fast hydrofoil link to the island, for passengers only. The crossings takes 20 minutes from Piombino to Cavo, a small village in the Rio Marina municipality. The hydrofoil then continues on to Portoferraio (another 15 minutes).

Tourists arriving by car are advised to book their crossing, particularly over the Easter holiday, during the period 25 April – 1 May and at weekends in July and August. No problem for passengers tickets.

At the terminal in Piombino you can find guarded parking spaces: indoor and outdoor.
