The conservation of the Tuscan Archipelago National Park

On land: almost half of the territory of the island, including the rocks, cliffs and small islands. Le Formiche in La Zanca, l'Ogliera, the Scoglio della triglia, the island of Corbella, the Gemini Islands, the island of Ortano, Topi Island and Lo Scoglietto in Portoferraio.

The islands of Palmaiola and Cerboli in the strait of Piombino are also environment protected.

In the sea: on August 10th 1971, the sea opposite Le Ghiaie in Portoferraio, including the area between Punta Falcone and Capo Bianco, where the Scoglietto is, was declared an environment and marine biology protected area. Whether you are a professional or simply an amateur, it is strictly forbidden to do any type of fishing in the entire area. You may only use a rod and squid fishing lure from the beach.
