Cala Seregola is a big beach reaching 64m at its widest point and 190m in length. It has a large car park and umbrella and deckchair rental facilities.
It is mainly made up of dark sand with many mineral particles and very small stones.
The peculiarity of this beach is that you actually enter a former mining area once you leave the main road. As you drive through you will see old signposts and warehouses left over from the days when this used to be one of the most important mining areas in Italy. On the right hand side of the beach, looking towards the sea is what remains of an old loading jetty.
Towards the left hand side of the car park you walk through a sort of “canyon” of excavated rocks which leads out onto another two small beaches mainly made up of medium to large stones, with some areas suitable for sunbathing. Further along the beach some rocks which are more suitable for fishing than sunbathing.
From this area of coastline you can see the island of Palmaiola in the foreground, Cerboli behind and on a clear day, the coastline which extends from Piombino on the mainland, all the way down to the island of Giglio.
