On leaving Portoferraio town centre, turn right for Le Ghiaie beach. Continue for about 1 km until you come to a road sign indicating "Capo Bianco"
The road ends in a large square above the beach. You may leave your car free of charge in the large car-park, although it may be difficult to find a place in August. Steps lead down to the beach where the white pebble seabed and crystal-clear water produce enchanting reflections. A visit to Capo Bianco, sheltered by steep high cliffs, is recommended particularly when there is a south-easterly "scirocco" wind, which calms the water and gives it a special transparency.
