Free beach of about 120m. by 15-20m. wide composed of shingle and rough sand. It is exposed to winds from south-west, west and north-west.

It is a natural beach, in the sense that it is regularly cleaned, but maintains its natural characteristics with seaweed and driftwood to be found on it. On the right hand side of the beach the transparent waters reveal large white stones and multicoloured shingle mingled with the rocks on the seabed.

The transparency of the sea is heightened on days when the “scirocco” southerly wind is blowing and is particularly dramatic from the promontory on the right.

From here a small track leads not only to the promontory, but also to the “red stones” and onto the beach of Mangani. It is not recommended in the hottest hours of the day.

A reed thicket along the back of the beach shields the beach from the few existing houses. There is a bar-pizzeria on the beach and also deckchair and umbrella rental facilities. There is also a slipway for boats to access the sea. The car park is on the road leading to the beach.

This beach is definitely for those who want to isolate themselves from the hustle and bustle of the city and have a completely relaxing holiday.

How to reach it:
It can be reached following a part asphalt part dirt track road from Bagnaia – it’s usually in good condition – or Rio Elba. From Bagnaia you must follow for Rio Elba – Nisporto for 4 kms. The road is quite bendy but also offers a good panorama : Portoferraio and the north coast all the way to the promontory of Enfola and valleys of mediterranean plummeting down the rock face to the sea. After reaching Nisporto you must continue for another 4kms climbing and then descending towards the sea. Coming from Rio Elba you follow directions for Nisportino – Nisporto for 5 kms.
