Le Viste beach, made up of sand and small, variously shaped, coloured pebbles is dominated by the ancient walls of Fort Falcone. It is close to the historic centre of Portoferraio, near the Villa dei Mulini, Napoleon's winter residence.
The expanse of water in front is part of Le Ghiaie Marine Park. About one nautical mile away rises the "Scoglietto" islet, an interesting spot for scuba-divers owing to the abundance of fish. The beach is difficult to reach and the return route is even more hazardous, since you have to to make your way along 200 metres of steeply sloping road.
The bar and friendly terraced restaurant on the beach are ideal for passing a pleasant evening. Very small car-park.
