Last week end in October - Poggio, Marciana

Poggio, in the Commune of Marciana, is the perfect place for a Chestnut Festival, held for the past thirty years in this small, Medieval town. In the Chestnut Tree square, food stalls offer typical Elba specialities made from chestnuts, like the bread made from chestnut flour, or the castagnaccio, cheeses, cakes, chestnut tagliatelle and polenta, as well as the typical roasted and boiled chestnuts, with plenty red wine to down it all with.
