Elba has all the necessaary facilities for families with children
If you're a family with children on holiday in Elba and you're looking for all the comforts, head for the sandy beaches, like Marina di Campo for example. The town runs right along the back of the beach, so it's easy and quick to get to either from the sea front or from the small pine grove, on the eastern side of the beach, (where there is also a children's play area).
The water is shallow till far out and all the facilities are at hand. Lacona beach, on the other hand, although a little more isolated, is very popular among families with small children, because there are many areas where the children can play and make new friends. A small pine grove runs along the rear of the beach, perfect if you want some shade during the hottest hours of the day, and along the main road there's a "Duna Park" with lots of inflated toys and games for children of all ages.
Other sandy beaches we suggest if you have small children are Lido di Capoliveri, that besides having soft, fine sand, has also many facilities, as well as bars and restaurants just off the beach; another large, fine sand beach is Procchio, and here too you will find bathing establishments, bars and restaurants on the beach.
If one day you feel like doing something different, why not go to the mines, or the aquarium, or to one of the amusement parks on the island?
The most suitable restaurants for families with children are in Marina di Campo, Portoferraio and Porto Azzurro, where high chairs and baby changing rooms are always available.
Once you've chosen your beach, check for wind if you want a sheltered one, pack your buckets and spades, and... enjoy yourselves!
