Milan There is a direct connection to and from Piombino with two bus services (one during the winter), that during the summer reaches the port in Piombino with several daily connections. Coming from any city in Europe that is connected with Milan you can then travel by bus and catch the ferry for the Island of Elba in just a few hours.

For example if you leave from Zurich at 09,00, you will get to Milan (Lampugnano) at 13.00; then you can catch the 15,00 bus for Piombino Marittima (approximate arrival at 20,30) and then catch the first available ferry for the Island of Elba.

Frankfurt. Florence - Elba or Foggia - Elba

Going from Florence to Piombino Marittima is both quick and easy thanks to the bus service thay runs during the summer. Florence is well connected via Flixbus with many cities in Italy and in Europe, above all in Austria and Germany. For example if you leave from Monaco di Baviera (Germany)at 00,40 and travel during the night you get to Florence at 9,20. Another excellent connection from Italy is from Foggia to Florence because one bus leaves at 22,35 and gets to Florence at 08,05.

Departure from Florence is at approximately 10,00, so in little more than two hours and 30 mins you get to the port in Piombino at at12,40.

Salerno - Siena - Elba or Rome - Siena Elba

The Siena - Piombinoconnections are perfect if you want to reach Piombino from the South. For example from Salerno, if you travel by night, you leave at 21,20 and get to Siena at 05,05. At the same time if you leave Rome (Tiburtina) at 01,45 it only takes you a little more than 3 hours.

Once you get to Siena you can then get a bus for the port in Piombino from the railway station at 7,00 (expected arrival in Piombino Marittima at 10,15) and then catch the ferry for Portoferraio.
