Getting to the Island of Elba by train

If you want to catch the ferry to the Island of Elba, whether you arrive from the north or the south, you have to get to theport of Piombino, where you will see both the small railway station of Piombino Marittima and the bus stop both right opposite the quays where the ferries come in and leave.

If you wish to consult the train timetables you will need to check the Trenitalia website, but be sure to click Piombino Marittima for your destination (and not just Piombino) .

Some lines make theirfinal stop at Campiglia Marittima; so here you will either have to change train or get an Autolinee Toscane bus  that in only 20 minutes will get you to Piombino Marittima.

The bus leaves from the stop outside the Train Station in Campiglia Marittima.

Please note:On the tenitalia website you will see the Campiglia Marittima - Port of Piombino bus timetable no longer exists!

The departure of the buses is right opposite the train station in Campiglia Marittima. Yourtrain ticket also includes the bus journey to and from Campiglia - Piombino. A single bus ticket costs 2,10 euros but 3,00 if bought on board.

Suggestion from Infoelba: get all the information you need concerning times and ticket prices of your return journey before you leave from the information, timetables and ticket prices on the trenitalia.com website There is only one automatic, self service ticket machine in the train station in Piombino Marittima, and in Elba there are very few train ticket offices or travel agencies that sell FFSS train tickets.
