Bagnaia, Island of Elba

Bagnaia is right on the beach, at the furthermost point of the gulf of Portoferraio

It is very peaceful, its beach, made up mainly of small pebbles that the sea has made smooth, is long and has well equipped bathing establishments where you can rent out boats, dinghies and canoes, and there is also a sailing school. There is one hotel right on the beach, the rest are either a short distance away or very near.
If you want to eat out for lunch or dinner, there are also several restaurants and pizzerias right on the beach.

Interesting fact: This tiny hamlet on the Island of Elba has a strange story to it: half comes under the administration of the Commune of Portoferraio, the other half comes under that of Rio.

The view from Bagnaia is beautiful. The sun goes down on the horizon of Portoferraio, offering unique, spectacular sunsets, making it a perfect place for an aperitif on the beach or a romantic dinner.

You will also find a minimarket, a newsagents, a chemist and a church here. During the summer there is a maket on Saturday mornings where you can buy clothes, fruit and vegetables, food etc. On the beach there is also a small children's area with swings and slides.

Bagnaia is about 11 km from Portoferraio. To get there from Portoferraio head for Porto Azzurro, then once you get to the Magazzini/Bagnaia junction turn left and keep going for about 6 kilometres.

There is also a public bus service to and from Bagnaia.
