The Calamita promontory, above all in the south-western part, is the perfect place for many different species of wild orchids.
The wild orchids are small and delicate, of different colours, sometimes even intense, and vary from brilliant white to delicate pink and even burgundy.
Only recently some new species have been classified, and some of the more rare ones had yet to be discovered.
The most recent species found has been given the name of Capoliveri in honour of where it was discovered for the first time.
