Procchio, Island of Elba

The municipal territory of Marciana is the largest of all the municipalities on Elba, and since it stretches as far as the coast some majorcoastal towns and villages as well as several beautiful areas are also part of it. The tiny town of Procchio is one of the busiest seaside resorts on the Island of Elba. Both the actual town and the main beach in Procchio overlook the gulf that bears the same name.

Although this tourist resort is far from large, tourists will find all the facilities they need if they want a very pleasant holiday in Elba: apartments, residences and numerous hotels that look right onto the long, sandy beach, and most have a swimming pool and tennis courts.

In the centre of the town you have "Il Salotto di Procchio" where you will find restaurants and pizzerias, grocers shops, a supermarket, a bread shop and baker's, cute shops if you want to go shopping as well as several bars where on most evenings small concerts with live music are held. In the hamlet, or tiny town of Procchio, you will also find a chemist's, a post office and a bank that also has an ATL.

There is also a fully equipped public park in Procchio where during the summer months food festivals and exhibitions are held that are part of the Mercato della Terra e del Mare that welcomes any small firm of local products.

If you want to get to the wonderful sandy beach just walk down the road lined with pine trees; perfect for families with small children, part of it is free while the other part offers bathing establishments as well as many other facilities.

The beach is actually divided into three separate beaches, and each one is an extra part of the other: Procchio, Campo all'Aia, and, further along, the tiny Guardiola beach where the gulf ends forming an enchanting inlet.

Not only does Procchio have one of the most beautiful and best equipped sandy beaches on the Island, it also represents the crossroads for Marciana Marina, Marina di Campo and Portoferraio and from here you can get to other resorts and beaches, some very busy some less, in no time.
