Everybody agrees restaurants are always a very important part of your holiday: the perfect way to end a day's swimming and sunbathing, or relaxing in the middle of nature, is by eating out in a good restaurant!.
Elba cuisine is simple and genuine, and has much been influenced by the domination the island has undergone in the past, so much so that its typical dishes often combine both sea and land products. The eastern side of the island is famous for its cakes, while its choice white, red and sweet wines are becoming more and more valued.
In some towns like Capoliveri and Porto Azzurro for example, the tables of the restaurants liven up the streets when the sun goes down, with the smell of food all around you; as you walk along you feel as if you've gone back to the land of plenty. In Marciana Marina and Marina di Campo there are excellent fish restaurantson the sea front. In the narrow streets of Portoferraio you can find inns and taverns passed on from generation to generation. For those who prefermeat dishes without a doubt Marciana Alta is the place to go.
You can, however, find restaurants and pizzerias to suit all tastes and pockets even in the parts of Elba that attract less tourists. Bear in mind, though, that not all restaurants know how to prepare the typical Elba dishes: you worry about choosing, we'll worry about giving you the best possible advice.
