Discovering the Wines and Cuisine of Isola d'Elba

Isola d'Elba offers a wide range of activities besides the sea and beaches: opportunities to discover the island territory, its nature with its fauna and flora, the typical grape varieties and wines, and the local cuisine. All these things to do are ideal for spending a day on Isola d'Elba as a couple, with the family, or during a rainy day.

Visiting a winery is an excellent way to discover the typical grape varieties of DOC Elba, such as Vermentino for white wines and the famous local sweet passito wine Aleatico dell'Elba DOCG, made from the island's native grape variety par excellence.

With a Jeep tour through the vineyards of Isola d'Elba, you can discover the characteristics of Elba's soil, which is generally poor in organic matter and therefore well suited to producing quality grapes and particularly aromatic wines.

During these off-road excursions, encounters with local wildlife are frequent: butterflies (to which a Sanctuary is dedicated), peregrine falcons, wild goats and hares.

On Isola d'Elba, you can also combine an e-bike ride with a wine tasting, or enjoy romantic aperitifs among the vineyard rows at sunset (there is also an Osteria senza Oste: you book in advance and arrive at an equipped clearing in the Mediterranean scrub, where everything needed for a do-it-yourself aperitif is provided).
