Hidden in the heart of lush vegetation, Punta di Capo Perla lies in a tiny, fascinating cove in the heart of the Mediterranean bush, and just as the name suggests, the beach can be described as heaven on earth.
The majestic Spanish building known as Forte Focardo for centuries has always watched over it, making the cove characteristic and truly suggestive.
Capo Perla beach consists of tiny stones mixed with sand, and in some parts it is covered with dried posidonia washed up by the tide, giving the beach a somewhat wild and rugged appearance.
It is usually very quiet because most of the people who go there are either lovers of sports or are the owners of the nearby villas, so it is the ideal beach if you love peace and quiet or enjoy going snorkelling and underwater fishing. There are no facilities on the beach.
Go for a walk along the cliffs toswards the north and you will get to the walls of the turrets of Forte Focardo that seem to go as far down as the water's edge
The beach is sheltered from the south by Punta Nera and from the north by the Forte Focardo promontory, so this means that it only gets winds from the east.
How to get to Capo Perla beach
From Capoliveri follow the signs for Capo Perla. After about 2 kilometres, you will reach a fork: the main road continues towards Straccoligno and Calanova, while to reach the beach it is necessary to turn left in the direction of Capo Perla.
After about 600 metres, there is a second junction with two downhill lanes, one straight ahead and one on the left, both dead ends and without signs. The car should be parked along the roadside at this point, where only a few spaces are available. Continuing further, there are no parking spaces and the roads are narrow, with no room to turn around, making transit difficult. If no parking space is available here, it is advisable to turn back.
On foot, take the road on the left and continue for about 100 metres. Going straight ahead, the path leads to Forte Focardo; to reach Capo Perla beach instead, it is necessary to go down the stone staircase on the right. Following the path through the vegetation, the beach is reached in a few minutes.
