Enfola beach in Portoferraio, on the Island of Elba

Capo d'Enfola is famous for its ancient tuna fishing port, where up till 1958 the tuna fished there was cut and prepared. Recently the building has been renovated and turned into the administrative seat of the Tuscan Archipelago National Park.

The narrow isthmus that joins the promontory to the rest of the island has a beach on either side. The one on the south side has a small pier with buoys and is run by the Associazione Amici dell'Enfola (Friends of Enfola Association).

The beach is is easy to get to by car from Portoferraio, about 6 km away, just follow the Enfola-Viticcio signs.

There is a good car park next to the beach, and from where you can admire the coastline of Elba as far as Sant'Andrea; you can hire pedalòs, as well as haul small boats up a slipway.

From a morphological point of view the beach on the northern side is probably less interesting because it is used more or less for laying up small boats belonging to the local fishermen .
