Ferrato Due Beach

Ferrato Due is a small beach on the eastern coast of Elba Island, located in the municipality of Capoliveri, just beyond Ferrato Uno and separated from it by a rocky spur. It is the most secluded of the two beaches named Ferrato and is close to Punta di Calanova.

The shoreline is about 50 meters long and consists of sand mixed with small pebbles, with reddish hues due to the presence of mineral fragments. The name Ferrato likely refers to the ancient ironworking activities from Etruscan times, traces of which can still be found in the materials along this stretch of coast.

Compared to Ferrato Uno, Ferrato Due is narrower and more sheltered, with a more intimate and natural atmosphere. The coastline behind the beach is higher and covered with Mediterranean scrub, creating a wild and protected environment. Due to the shape of the coast, the beach falls into shade fairly early in the day.

The sea is clear and transparent, with shallow waters near the shore, ideal for those who enjoy swimming calmly and exploring the seabed with a mask and snorkel. The presence of rocks and rocky areas nearby also makes Ferrato Due interesting for snorkeling.

The beach faces northeast and offers a beautiful view of the sea along Elba's eastern coast, with glimpses of the islet of Cerboli, Monte Arco, and Punta di Capo Perla. The vegetation surrounding the beach, along with the possible presence of washed-up seaweed, preserves the natural and unspoiled appearance of this stretch of coastline.

Ferrato Due does not have any facilities directly on the beach, but by going up a few steps and following the path uphill for about fifty metres, you reach the bar of the Area Sosta Ferrato overlooking the beach. Open seasonally, it is ideal for a break during a day by the sea. Here you can have a snack, enjoy an ice cream, sip an aperitif or have a simple and quick lunch. Just go up the steps, following the clearly visible sign, and you will find it on the right.

How to get to Ferrato Due Beach

Ferrato Due can be reached via three paths.

The first, most convenient and closest, is about 900 meters from Straccoligno, inside a parking area for cars and campers, with parking for cars, motorcycles, and bikes, well signposted along the road. Pay attention to the red light at the start of the descent to the parking lot: if it is on, there are no more available spaces. After parking, follow a well-maintained path leading to a sign with clear directions to the three nearby beaches: Ferrato Uno, Malpasso, and Ferrato Due. For Ferrato Due, just go down a few steps to reach the beach. 

The second path descends to the nearby Ferrato Uno beach; cross the entire beach, climb a few steps, walk a short distance along a well-kept path, and after some concrete steps, you will reach Ferrato Due beach.

A third option is to access from the nearby Malpasso entrance. Pass the entrance to the Malpasso beach path and reach the entrance of a villa on Punta di Calanova, then turn left for about 150 meters along a shaded path. A sign will indicate the access to Ferrato 2 and Ferrato 1.
