Forno is the smallest of the three beaches in the Biodola Gulf, and is 120 metres long and about 8 metres wide (12 at the widest part).
The beach consists offine, golden sand that to the left is more grainy because it is mixed with shingle, not unlike the sand in Cavoli beach.
In the shade of a magnificent pine tree a cluster of small houses looks right onto the beach, and the perfect combination of theirpastel coloured walls and typical, characteristic doors and windows is in complete harmony with the surrounding, natural environment.
Secluded and quiet, the relaxing atmosphere is typical of a small village so it is perfect for a quiet and peaceful summer holiday. The fishing boats moored up on the beach help to create an even more relaxing atmosphere.
The water is very shallow till far out so this makes the beach perfect for families with small children.
Since the beach faces westwards it is sheltered both from the north-west wind as well as all the eastern ones.
If you look out towards the sea, you will see that the panorama goes from the coastline of Biodola to Punta del Nasuto in Marciana Marina, and as far as the majestic massif of Monte Capanne.
There are some beautiful rocks to the right but they aren't really suitable for lying on or sunbathing.
You can rent sun umbrellas and sun beds on the beach.
How to get to Forno beach
Follow the signs for la Biodola and turn right just before you get to the junction for Scaglieri and follow the signs.
Although you can get there by car there is hardly anywhere to park, so when you reach the point where you can drive no further just follow the path for about 220 metres and you will get right to the beach.
If you want, there is also a pleasant walk starting at the car park that gets you first to Punta Penisola and then to Viticcio
