La Fenicia beach in Marciana Marina, on the Island of Elba

La Fenicia beach is in the town of Marciana Marina, and here you will find numerous facilities.

People from the island sometimes like to call the beach Finiccia and it is without a doubt the most loved beach in Marciana Marina both by the locals and tourists. It is about 150 metres long and 20/24 metres at its widest point.

There are two big, well equipped bathing establishments on the beach, offering a restaurant right on the beach, a bar, and cabins with sun bed and sun umbrella rental. One of them even has a swimming pool suitable for children and a wooden terrace only a few metres from the water's edge. The disabled should have no problem in getting to this beach because access is directly from the end of the road.

The beach consists of large, smooth white stones that seem almost rounded to perfection, and that the rain brings down along the ditch during the winter. The colour of the rocks in the surrounding area gives the sea a deep greenish-blue colour. The water on the sea bed is crystal clearand is rich in life so it is perfect if you want to go snorkelling.

There is a stone footbridge on the left that takes you to a tiny beach that the locals call Fenicetta. This path runs alongside some flat, smooth rocks that are very popular among teenagers who like to spread their towels out and sunbathe.

To the right of the beach there is a small pier and the large rocks where the Torre degli Appiani, symbol of the town, stands proud. The rocks are quite smooth and secluded, and are perfect for sunbathing with many areas to dive off from.

Although the beach is in a north, north-western position, both the cliffs and Punta del Nasuto shelter it from the winds from the north.

On the horizon you have a perfect view of the Island of Capraia that is facing the beach.

Every year since 2014 Fenicia beach has been awarded what is called the Bandiera Blu, an international prize granted by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) based on how clear and unpolluted the sea is, the quality and quantity of the facilities on the beach, and how much importance is placed on the environment.

How to get to Fenicia beach

It is easy to get to either on foot or by bike, just go along the seafront in Marciana Marina. If, on the other hand, you get there by car, you will see the car park on the sea front but it has an hourly charge. There are also some free, parking spaces about 200/300 metres from the beach.
