La Fenicia is a beach located in the town of Marciana Marina. Known locally as Finiccia, it is undoubtedly the most famous and beloved beach among locals and visitors of Marciana Marina. The beach is about 95 meters long and up to 24 meters wide, offering numerous services.
The beach features two large and well-equipped beach establishments, with a seafront restaurant, bar kiosk, cabins, sunbeds, and umbrellas. One of the establishments also has a swimming pool perfect for children and a wooden terrace right by the sea. Access for disabled people is facilitated, as the entrance is located at the end of the road.
The beach consists of large white, almost spherical pebbles, carried and smoothed by the waters of a stream that (in winter) flows into the center of the beach. The color of the rocks gives the water vibrant shades of blue-green. The crystal-clear, life-rich seabed makes it ideal for snorkeling.
On the left side of the cove, a concrete walkway leads to a tiny beach called Fenicetta. The path, often used by young people to spread their towels, runs along a rocky cliff with flat, comfortable areas for sunbathing.
To the right of La Fenicia, there is a small jetty and another large rocky area, crowned by the Appiani Tower, the symbol of the town. The rocks, quite comfortable and secluded, are ideal for sunbathing and offer many diving spots.
The beach faces north to northwest but is well-sheltered by the cliffs and Punta del Nasuto, affected only by northern winds.
From here, the view stretches to Capraia Island, directly across from the beach.
Fun fact: Since 2014, La Fenicia beach has received the Blue Flag award every year. This international recognition by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) honors the quality of bathing waters, available services, and environmental management and enhancement.
How to reach La Fenicia Beach
La Fenicia is easily accessible on foot or by bike along the Marciana Marina promenade. For those arriving by car, there is paid parking along the waterfront. However, there are free parking spaces located just 200 meters from the sea behind the town.
