The Laconella Beach is the first true beach you reach after crossing the wild Promontory of Fonza and Ghiaieto, a long stretch of rocky coastline not easy for swimming.
The beach, approximately 210 meters long, is covered with beautiful light-colored, very fine sand. Only on the right side, bordering Ghiaieto beach, are numerous smooth stones piled up, some of considerable size.
The seabed features incredible clarity with crystal-clear aquamarine water, and the sea remains shallow for a long distance from the shore, allowing for refreshing walks and quiet play for children.
Laconella Beach is a splendid and less crowded location compared to Lacona, ideal for those seeking peaceful spots and unspoiled nature.
The promontory of Punta della Contessa on the left, with its picturesque "V"-shaped cliffs, is particularly interesting for snorkeling and appreciating the numerous fish that inhabit our sea.
It is worth visiting on foot by walking along the rocks to admire the large Lacona Beach and discovering the tiny beach of Punta della Contessa. The place is truly charming, probably one of the most unique gems that the Elba Island coastline can offer.
Above the promontory, there are the ruins of a coastal anti-landing battery from World War II, built to defend the Gulf of Lacona.
How to reach Laconella beach
The beach can be reached by following the road from Lacona towards Marina di Campo. Shortly after Lacona, turn left onto the small road leading to Camping Laconella, which is clearly signposted. At the junction where the campsite entrance is indicated, continue by taking the road on the right. There are no parking areas nearby, and leaving the car at the side of the road may result in fines. For this reason, it is advisable to reach the area by scooter, or to park in Lacona and continue on foot.
Alternatively, it is possible to leave the car at the paid car park “I Golfi”, also located in Lacona, and use the shuttle service.
The path leading to the beach is on the left, about 250 metres after the junction with the campsite. It is just over a hundred metres long and quite uneven: care should be taken due to holes and cracks in the ground.
