The coastline between Patresi and Chiessi, in the municipality of Marciana, is characterized by several charming coves, immersed in untouched nature.
Le Buche beach is located at the end of a small and wild valley, overlooked by a high cliff that drops steeply into the sea.
About 50 meters long, it is characterized by large dark gravel and boulders of various sizes that have fallen down. The sea is clear and crystal-clear, and the seabed gently slopes. Since it is composed of large gravel, it is recommended to wear water sandals to enter the water.
The beach is infrequently visited, making it perfect for those looking for untouched, wild, and very tranquil areas.
The seabed is ideal for those who love snorkeling and scuba diving.
Facing northwest, the beach is exposed to the north and the Libeccio winds. There are no services available on the beach.
Just a little further south, separated from Le Buche by a dark rock spur, is Mortigliano Beach, which can only be reached by sea.
Infoelba recommends: Near the beach is the “Napoleon’s Chair,” a rock shaped like an armchair, where, according to legend, the emperor used to rest, gazing toward his Corsica.
The small cove of Le Buche can be reached on foot by taking one of the two trails that start from the small village of Colle d’Orano (Marciana). In Colle d’Orano, there is a small free parking area.
The first medium-difficulty trail allows you to reach the beach in about 20 minutes. After passing the first cluster of houses in Colle d’Orano, once you reach the front of Hotel Villa Rita, take trail No. 127, which is marked for Le Buche, and continue until trail No. 127 A, which ends at the beach.
The second path is a bit longer than the first. From the square in Colle d’Orano, continue on Vie delle Buche for about 1 km. The narrow but paved road ends near a group of houses. While it can be reached by car, there are very few parking options. At the end of the road, continue on trail No. 127, then on No. 127 A.
Infoelba recommends: For descending along the two trails, it is advised to wear closed and comfortable shoes; flip-flops and sandals are not recommended.
