As the name suggests, by far the "best beach" in Capoliveri thanks to its unique beauty and the fact that it is very easy to get to, it is one of the most popular on the Island of Elba. There is a wide choice of holiday accommodation for tourists in the valley behind the beach that have taken the place of the agriculture of the past.
This wide beach is 460 metres long and has large rocks at both ends. It consists of fine, golden sand and is surrounded by typical Mediterranean shrub.
Some parts are free while in others there are bathing establishments.
Cliffs on the left separate it from the smaller and quieter Calanchiole beach while on the right there is a tunnel inside the rocks that leads to battery terminals dating back to World War II.
Interesting fact: The rocky coastline of Lido di Capoliveri is made up of underground passages and battery terminals built during the war when the Stella gulf was more or less watched over for fear of attacks by sea.
The beach is very popular, above all among teenagers who look upon it as a place where you can relax and make new friends, but it is very popular among those who wish a lively holiday because it is perfect for doing snorkelling or any other water sport.Families with small children love it too because the water is shallow till quite far out.
You will find bars and restaurants on the beach as well as pedalo, jet ski and sailing boat hire. As well as making the water crystal clear, the north-westerly winds are perfect if you like windsurfing
On a clear day you can even see the Island of Montecristo on the horizon.
How to get to Lido di Capoliveri beach

There are bothfree carparks and ones at a fee just off the beach. You can get there by bus, and in the summer the Commune of Capoliveri runs the Marebus public bus service to and from the beach.
