Mola beach is on the north east side of the famous bay of Mola, an area that is well sheltered from the winds thanks to the depth of the gulf that it sits in, with one of the most interesting wet areas on the Island of Elba where many migrating birds stop.
It isn't a very busy beach because it is used mainly by those who come to moor their boat. The Marina di Mola shipyard if you want to moor your boat in the basin or along the docks is on the right hand side of the beach.
The beach consists of sand mixed with shingle and is about 200 metres long and 25 at its widest point.
The most important aspect about Mola beach is that since 2006 it has been thefirst Dog Beach on the Island of Elba. On the left hand side of the beach there is an actual bathing establishment (about 500 square metres) specifically for dogs where there are sun umbrellas, sun beds, cabins, chemical toilets and anything else you may need if you have "to clean up" your dog's mess. It is perfect for those who want their dog with them when they go to the beach.
It isn't difficult to get to this beach and there is a spacious, free car park right next to it.
How to get to Mola beach
Take the main road from Portoferraio to Porto Azzurro, and just 1 km before you get to the town take the grit road on the right and keep going until you get to the car park.
