Morcone beach in Capoliveri, on the Island of Elba

Morcone beach is the first of the three larger beaches on the western side of Monte Calamita, at the foot of Capoliveri.

Since it faces south west it is well protected from the winds from the south coming from Punta Morcone, and it looks out onto beautiful sun sets on the horizon that make the outline of the promontories on the southern side of the Island of Elba even more breathtaking.

The beach is about 270 metres long and consists of sand and small/medium sized shingle. The sea is a deep turquoise colour.

Although the beach isn't very long there are numerous facilities provided, so it is perfect if you like beaches that are easy to get to and have all you may need at hand, above all if you have small children with you.

It is also very popular among teenagers because they have the possibility of practising various sports here.

The beauty of the beach is at its best in May and June when the vegetation all around is rich in highly scented flowers in full bloom.

If you hire a small boat you can go on a short excursion from Morcone and head for the coast of the Monte Calamita promontory, where you can admire numerous beaches and tiny coves that you can only get to by sea, for example Il Calone, Le Francesche, Miniera di Calmita, il Cannello and Vetrangoli.

How to get to Morcone beach

The beach, barely 3 km from Capoliveri, is easy to get to by car, just follow the signs along the road. There is a fee paying car park behind the beach, but it isn't very big.

The Minibus service that runs all summer through is very handy, and it connects Capoliveri with many of the nearby beaches.
