Monte Capanne, on the western side of the Island of Elba, stands proud 1019 metres above sea level, with many tiny, rugged and secluded coves round the foot, and Pietre Albe beach is but one of them.
The beach is approximately 270 metres long, not unlike a narrow line of grey pebbles along the foot of a high, steep "pettata" (very high and steep coastline), that in some parts seems to divide the beach into smaller parts.
Pietre Albe beach is nothing more than a natural, extra piece of the nearby Campo Lo Feno beach, separated from it by several white rocks.
It is made up of tiny dark pebbles mixed with rocks of different sizes. Here the sea is always crystal clear and the seabed is perfect for snorkelling
Precisely because it lies on the westernmost part of the Island of Elba where the coast is very open, it is exposed to most of the winds, above all those from the east. There are no facilities on the beach.
The fact that it is not very easy to get to makes it a very quiet and peaceful beach, if you manage to get there.
The beach faces the open sea and offers you a breathtaking view of Corsica.
Getting to Pietre Albe beach
You can get to the beach either by sea or on foot if you prefer, simply by walking from the nearby Campo Lo Feno. If you prefer to go by boat the distances are as follows: approximately 9 sea miles from Marina di Campo and approximately 6,3 miles from Marciana Marina.
