Remaiolo beach in Capoliveri, on the Island of Elba

Unless you are a guest in the "Costa dei Gabbiani" hotel, also the sole owner of the entire fauna reserve that also includes a good part of Monte Calamita, there is no way to get to this beach by car.

And unless you have been given permission from the management of the tourist resort be prepared to walk for about 3 kilometres along a grit road that is also quite steep because it has a height difference of 200 metres

. Or, if you prefer, you can also go by boat and that way you can admire the unique coastline.

This means you will also be able to admire the unbelievably beautiful scenery all around, that goes from Punta Calamita to Capo Calvo, and see the rusty remains of what was once the loading bridge of the old Ginepro iron mines, while in the gorges with their sheer drop down to the sea thousands of herring gulls build their nests.

The nature all around is unique and rugged and the view from here is really colourful: the deep blue sea, the green, Mediterranean bush,and the red cliffs rich in iron dust.

Remaiolo is about 100 metres long and is a white sands beach. It is sheltered on the right by some small cliffs, and [page id="812"]Vetrangoli beach[/page[ is just beyond them. To the left, on the other hand, you have the more majestic punta dei Ripalti that protects it from any eastern winds.

Remaiolo rock faces the beach, and is very popular among scuba divers who go there to admire the numerous fish, gorgonies and lobsters to be seen there.

As well as Remaiolo, there are other interesting, isolated beaches, like Bianca, Nera and lo Stagnone. Here, the iron has given the earth a red colour, and the sand mixed with mineral dust sparkles in the sun.

Remaiolo is the only beach in Costa dei Gabbiani with abathing establishment, and there is also a cool pine wood at the back.
