Schiopparello - Le Prade beach on the Island of Elba, in Portoferraio

Schiopparello - Le Prade is one of the most characteristic beaches on the Island.

It consists of tiny, bright shingle of different sizes and colours, as well as sand. Although the beach isn't very long - about 400 metres - and the width varies from 4, at times 6, at the most 8 metres, it is nonetheless very popular.

What makes Schiopparello - Le Prade beach so unique is that it is full of beautiful tamarisk trees that provide shade from the hot sun at any time of the day. Another important characteristic of Schiopparello / Le Prade beach is the breathtaking view of Portoferraio on the horizon, making it among one of the most beautiful on the island.

There is a small bar as well as a sun umbrella and sun bed rental on the beach.

Although not many tourists choose this beach, it is very popular among locals with small children or teenagers who like to go there for a beach party.

Thanks to the gentle sea breeze, the bay in Portoferraio is perfect for sailing lessons, and this explains why there are several schools in the gulf; on windy days, the colourful sails of the wind surfs and small boats from the sailing schools make the already magnificent view even more beautiful.

Schiopparello - Le Prade is perfect even on days when the Scirocco wind is blowing, because it is very sheltered and the sea is always calm and crystal clear.

How to get there

Follow the main road that goes from Portoferraio to Porto Azzurro, then turn left at the junction for Bagnaia / Magazzini.
A few hundred metres further along, you will see the access to the beach from a small road on the right of the La Curva Bar. There is also a free, quite large car park plus another one for customers of the bar, and both are in the shade thanks to the numerous, large trees there.
