Seccione (referred to by locals as Prunini) is another gem of the Portoferraio coastline. It is located against the steep coast of Montebello, covered by lush Mediterranean scrub that almost reaches the beach and provides some shelter and shade.
Closed to the east by a sea stack, the beach consists of white gravel mixed with golden sand and is about 180 meters long. The feature that distinguishes Seccione Beach is the incredible contrast of its colors: the green of the Mediterranean scrub in the background, the white of the gravel mixed with golden sand, and the sea-green water that becomes deep blue in the deeper areas.
The sea is truly beautiful and interesting for those who wish to observe the seabed while diving and, especially on days with scirocco winds, offers wonderful transparency.
The beach is one of the most natural on the Island of Elba, and despite the clarity and beauty of its seabed, it is usually not very crowded (compared to the more famous white beaches of Capo Bianco, Sottobomba, and Sansone) because it is a bit difficult to reach; the access consists of over 120 steps.
Perfect for nature lovers and those seeking tranquility.
How to get to the beach
The beach is accessible by taking the provincial road to Enfola, which leads from Portoferraio towards Enfola and Viticcio. Shortly after passing the junction with Viale Luigi Einaudi, a road sign indicates the presence of the beach.
Unfortunately, there is no proper free parking, although in some places the road offers wide spaces where you can leave your car.
The area is served by the local urban bus service (line 7).
