For the clarity and colors of the sea, the northern coast of Portoferraio is one of the most photographed and appreciated coastlines.
The same goes for the Sorgente Beach, also known as Acquavivetta Beach. The small beach (about 80 meters), located between Sansone and Acquaviva beaches, is made up of small smooth white pebbles and is nestled between the typical white cliffs of this stretch of coastline.
On June 12, 2016, the Municipality of Portoferraio issued an ordinance outlining new rules to ensure navigation safety in the stretch of sea in front of Sorgente Beach. Read the Ordinance No. 33/2016 from the Municipality of Portoferraio >
The sea colors range from light blue to turquoise and deep blue towards the open sea.
How to reach Sorgente Beach
The beach is accessible by car via the provincial road to Enfola, about 4.5 km from Portoferraio. After parking the car along the provincial road (without blocking the traffic lane) or in the paid parking area, take the pedestrian path marked for Sansone Beach. The path to reach the beach is somewhat uneven, so flip-flops are not recommended as they may make the descent difficult.
