Sorgente beach in Portoferraio, on the Island of Elba

It is thanks to the crystal clear water and the colour of the sea that the coastline on the northern side of Portoferraio is one of the most loved and photographed.

And Sorgente beach, also called Acquavivetta is no exception. This tiny beach is about 80 metres long, and just like Sansone and Acquaviva, is made up of small, white shingle made smooth by the water, and is set like a jewel amidst the white cliffsthat are so typical of the coastline in this area.

The sea changes hue and goes from blue to emerald green and to deep blue where the water is deeper.

How to get to Sorgente beach

You can drive there by taking the road for Enfola about 4,5 km from Portoferraio. You can park either along the side of the road then follow the pedestrian path until you see the sign for Sansone beach. The path down to the beach is rather bumpy so we advise you not to wear flip flops because they might make walking somewhat difficult.
