Several, tiny beachesthat have unique low cliffs rich in tuff behind them, and are also surrounded by Mediterranean bush, lie along the coast between the two beaches of Barabarca andMadonna delle Grazie.
The name Stecchi probably comes from the fact that after a storm lots of pieces of dry wood and tree trunks are washed up on the beach by the waves (the locals call them "stecchi").
Stecchi Due beach is approximately 40 metres long and is made up of fine, golden sand with a line of rocks that divides it into two.
The water is crystal clear and the seabed is truly fascinating.
Not many people go to this beach which means it is always strong>very quiet
To the right of the beach there is another tiny inlet about fifteen metres long that the locals call Barabarchina beach, but the only way to get there is either by boat or, if you prefer, by walking across the rocks.
There are no facilities on Stecchi Due beach.
Getting to the beach
The beach isn't signposted very well so unless you know it you might not find it very easily.
Follow the main road for Capoliveri then turn right and follow the signs for Zuccale and Barabarca. As soon as you pass the junction turn left before the yellow painted chapel (via della Madonna) and follow the signs for "Appartameti il Maretto". Keep going for another 340 metres then turn right at the crossroads that you will recognise immediately because there is a dry stone wall with a road mirror.
Follow the downhill road past several villas then turn left at the crossroads and head downwards.
Here you will see the signs for "Il Maretto", so, with the apartments on your left keep going and this will take you toStecchi; in order to get to Stecchi Due just keep going until you reach a large gate with red bricks and a "No Entry" sign. Go past the sign then turn right, and with the sea to your right walk through the bushes until you get to a short path that takes you right to Stecchi Due.
Please note: there is nowhere to park near the beach so we suggest you leave your car further back, or, better still, go there by bike or scooter.
