Surrounded by pristine nature, Staccoligno beach isdeep in the heart of nature and is inside the gulf with Capo Perla and Liscolino at the far end, on the eastern coast of the Island of Elba.
The beach is quite shelteredfrom the southern, south western and western winds as well as those from the north; on the other hand it is less sheltered from the winds from the east.
It is about 220 metres long and more or less 8 metres wide, and the surrounding pristine nature plus the beauty of the bay that it sits in explains why it is so popular.
The emerald green water is shallow till quite far out, and the soft sand makes the beach perfect for families with small children who will enjoy playing on it.
Not only that, there are numerous facilities available so tourists' needs are always very well catered for. As well as bars and restaurants on the beach, you can also hire sun beds and sun umbrellas, pedalòs and small motor boats, that are the perfect choice if you want to go on a tour of the nearby inlets and coves.
The beach is ideal also for underwater sports, sailing and windsurf, and it caters for the disabled too.
Hint from Infoelba: Starting off at Straccoligno you can head for the other breathtaking inlets further along the coast like: Straccolignino, Ferrato, Malpasso, Calanova, Istia and Buzzancone or, on the opposite side, the beach of Liscolino and Capo Perla beach with the majestic Faro Focardo Fortress, built in 1600 by the Spanish so they could watch over Porto Azzurro.
Interesting fact: In the summer of 2018 we had a surprise when many baby Caretta caretta turtles were unexpectedly born on the beach in Straccoligno »
