Zuccale beach in Capoliveri, on the Island of Elba

On the southern side of the Island of Elba, sheltered by a tiny bay you find Zuccale beach, one of the most beautiful coves in Capoliveri where the lush, green vegetation seems to grow right down to the blue sea.

It is 180 metres long, and is divided into two by a landslide of huge rocks halfway along; it awards you an excellent view of both the Capo Stella promontory and Monte Capanne on the horizon.

It consists of golden, coarse grain sand, and thecrystal clear water here makes it the perfect beach for families with small children: in short, beautiful, pristine scenery.

The sea bed is beautiful too, and is rich in marine flora and fauna so it is perfect if you want to go snorkelling.

There are numerous facilities available on the beach like sun bed and sun umbrella rental, and if you wish you can also hire a pedalo or a motor boat.

Getting to the beach

If you want to go there just follow the main road for Capoliveri, and about half way between the Capoliveri-Porto Azzurro traffic light junction and the actual town of Capoliveri, there is a crossroads on the right of a small chapel that leads to the two beaches of Zuccale and Barabarca (both clearly signposted

There are two large car parks at the end of the road; the smaller of the two is on the left, on the way to Barabarca and is free, the larger one is on the right above Zuccale beach and is chargeable at € 2.00/hour - € 8.00/day (hours 8-20).

If you want to go down to the beach from the car park you have to follow a path then go down some steps, and this takes you right to the beautiful Zuccale beach.
