During a summer vacation on the Island of Elba, it is perfectly normal to want to bring your dog to a beautiful beach, but this might lead to complaints and bad moods. However, by following our suggestions, you will find that you can be tolerated and even liked:
- Remember that your dog is not necessarily welcome on every beach. Check the municipal regulations of the Island of Elba to understand the specific rules or take your dog to the DogBeach.
- Try to go to the beach only during the morning and evening and avoid the hottest hours.
- Always be smiling and friendly and ask if your pet is welcome. Even if the law is on your side, being polite and respectful of others can quickly diffuse any controversy.
- Make sure to keep your dog in the shade, in a cool place, and always have water with you for them to drink. Keep in mind that dogs are particularly vulnerable to heatstroke.
- Be mindful of the temperature of the ground. Dogs have delicate pads on their paws, so they need to be protected from hot sand and gravel. To test the ground temperature, walk barefoot.
- Always keep them on a leash near you and bring a muzzle and waste bags (kept in sight).
- Always keep an eye on your dog, never leave them alone, take turns managing them, and do not wander off.
- Before taking your dog to the beach, make sure they have taken care of all their physiological needs. Every two hours, take them to suitable areas (not on the beach) to stretch, drink, and, if necessary, relieve themselves.
- Keep the area where you stay clean, as if you were at home.
- And if your dog wants to jump in? Avoid the busiest hours. A dog splashing, shaking off water, and making a mess is always unwelcome. The ideal is to allow them to enter the water early in the morning (around 8:00 AM) or in the evening after 7:00 PM, unless you go to one of the Elba Dogbeaches, where there are designated areas for their swimming.
Just a few rules, and everything will go smoothly!
