"Franco Franchini" Park Authority Offices in Rio nell'Elba

The Park House, an old washhouse, is located near the historic center of Rio nell'Elba in Loc. I Canali and has an internal area of about 65 square meters.

It serves as a reference point and welcome center for the Park, focusing on the characteristics of the eastern Elba coast, specifically its mining traditions.

The space is divided into two areas: one for visitor reception, where information material and brochures about the National Park are available, and another that features a circular display case housing viewers for themed video projections and two computers with interactive programs about the nearby Valle dei Mulini.

Additionally, there is a mineral display where visitors can observe the characteristics of the main minerals found on the island of Elba, which have been extracted by miners for generations.

Outside the Park House, you will find the new washhouses (1907), where water flowing from a nearby spring crosses the building lengthwise in a cement basin and then flows out into a ditch, which feeds into the Valle dei Mulini.

In 2009, it was decided to dedicate the Park House of Rio nell'Elba to Franco Franchini, who tragically passed away on May 9, 2008. The Park wanted to honor his human value, dedication, and passion for his intense public and political activities, as well as his attention during the establishment of the Park.
