The first part of this route is the same as the yellow route- Il Castagnone. The departure is always in Sant'Ilario, where you then face the challenging via del Casotto, a forest track with a sandy surface that leads to the top of Monte Perone. You then cover approximately 2 km on a tarred road which then gets you to the "Castagnone" spring.
Turn right and you will reach a single track deep in the woods, and, after a short uphill and downhill road, the road down known as "Zucca 2" starts: a pleasant, singkle track that gets you to the forest road of the Piane del Canale area,, and here you have an excellent view of all the archipelago islands.
From here the descent goes back to being more technical until the hamlet of San Piero, earlier called Casevecchie (where he name of the route comes from), and from here on a main road you get back to the hamlet of Sant'Ilario.
