Conquistadores Cup - Porto Azzurro

The Conquistadores Cup is a Mountain Bike Marathon Race that takes place across the inner, magnificent hills as well as along some of the most significant areas in and around Porto Azzurro :Terranera beach and the old part of the town, both in the heart of nature and with a breathtaking view of the wonderful sea around the Island of Elba.

Interesting fact: The name Conquistadores Cup is the name given both to the actual routes as well as the sports association that takes care of running A.S.D. Longone Bike and comes from the fact that in the XVI century the Spanish conquistadores reigned over the territory of Porto Azzurro.

You can choose from two routes:

li>Classic - Ponce De Leon Route: 29,3 km D+1000 (1 round)
• Granfondo - Alarcon Route: 59,6 km D+2000 (2 rounds)

There are several uphill parts along the way that although are somewhat challenging they are short, but bear in mind that the difference in height above sea level is over 20%;you will however enjoy descents that might prove difficult from a tecnical point of view as well as some of the single tracks but together they help to make the race challenging and at the same time intriguing.

One of the most fascinating parts in the Conquistadores Cup is the area near the Madonna di Monserrato Sanctuary: a time trial just over one kilometre of uphill cycling along a single track in the woods right in the Monserrato valley; the winner gets a special, unique prize.

The Porto Azzurro Conquistadore Cup is a race that is more suitabe for those who have done a lot of training and are well prepared from a technical point of view when it comes down to cycling a Mountain Bike, and they can be sure of a truly emotional experience.

Interesting fact: The Conquistadores Cup has been included in the 2019 Tuscan Hills Trophy calendar, one of the most popular Mountain Bike lovers' regional race tracks.
