Playing golf on the Island of Elba

The Acquabona Golf Club is in Acquabona, about 8 km from Portoferraio, and is on the road to Porto Azzurro. The entire area is very green, and is surrounded by truly beautiful eucalyptus and olive trees.

The Acquabona Golf Club is a member of the Italian Golf Federation and the C.O.N.I., with fully qualified instructors.

The course was designed in 1971 by the architect G.Albertino; it is a 9 hole course - 2572 metres par 34 -S.S.S. 67 length 5144. Two of the most interesting holes are number two, a three par downhill in 177 metres, with crossing wind, and number eight: right dog-leg, uphill, facing the wind, with off limits on the right hand side and rows of eucalyptus that prevent you from getting the ball back if it has gone off the course.

The silence all around you, the perfumes, the birds of the Tuscan Archipelago National Park, the view of the gulfs and that of the hinterland are the icing on the cake in a game that is both interesting and somewhat demanding.
