MT - Miniera in Trail - Rio Marina

If you are a lover of trail running another important date is the race known as the MT - Miniera in Trail.

It was held for the first time in 2013 and consists of an exceptionally scenic route across the iron mines in Rio Marina, without a doubt one of the most unique places in the world: across the moon-like setting of the borderless, open air mines in Rio Marina, the Mediterranean bush, with the pristine cliffs towering above you and the greenest of seas on the northern part of the Tyrrhenian sea below.

Those who take part can choose one of three routes:

• MT ULTRA : 47 km D+2400
• MT 23: 23 km D+900
• MT 11 (competitive and non competitive)

The race known as MT ULTRA is also called the "Miners' Route" because it was the road they followed every day to get to the mines. It is a race suitable only for expert athletes and enables them to admire a panorama that can only be described as absolutely breathtaking.

MT 23 km is the half way race of the Miniera in Trail and the route is varied from both an athletic as well as a scenic point of view.

And last but not least the MT 11 km, a race that is both competitive and non competitive so anybody can take part and even walk if they wish, thus take in the unbelievable scenery in the area of the mines in Rio Marina.
