Tuscany Islands 2016 Walking Festival - autumn

Autumn on the Island of Elba: the warmth of the sun and the climate that is still mild make this season absolutely perfect if you enjoy trekking and living new experiences! It's time again for the Tuscan Islands Walking Festival that, after a short break, is back.

There are several excursions in the heart of nature on the Tuscan islands from September 24th to October 9th and you will see the colours of the bush going from yellow to red and orange,, giving the scenery a completely different look.

For the whole time of the Festival, you can be sure that the Tuscan Islands Walking Festival will offer you many chances to mix your hikes with some local, food tasting that you can always be sure is in season, like mushrooms (Saturday 1st October - Island of Giglio) as well as may chances to go in search of fascinating places and areas of the Tuscan islands, like the one and only natural lake in the whole Archipelago (Capraia - 1st October).

The autumn programme of the Tuscan Islands Walking Festival will open with the Fortress of Volterraio as protagonist. On September 24th you will be told the history of the Castle and you will also learn of the renovation work (De Laugier Auditorium - Portoferraio) then go on a tour of the Pisan Fortress in Marciana, and here you will told of the important role of the entire defence complex of all the Forts both in Elba and on the other Tuscan islands.
