The coastal route on the Island of Elba

Length: 127,52 km
Level of difficulty: medium-easy
Maximum altitude: 583m
Uphill difference in altitude: 6927 m
Downhill difference in altitude: 6994 m

The Via dell'Essenza is a project aimed at creating a coastal route on the Island of Elba: 127 km of trails divided into 12 stages along the coasts of the Island of Elba where each stage bears the name of a perfume and dedicated to the month in which that flower is in bloom.

The project came to be thanks to Acqua dell'Elba and Legambiente along with the free sponsorship of the Tuscan Archipelago National Park. It further developed thanks to the collaboration on behalf of Econauta that contributed when it came to choosing the trails.

The extensive project concerning what naturalistic trails to choose also meant their upkeeping: keeping the walking areas free of any obstacles, keeping the vegetation at the sides of the road down and pointing out their historical and naturalistic importance.

What makes this trail even more important is that it enables you to walk along with the sea always in sight all year round as you follow paths that, regardless of your hiking level, are always easy to reach and follow : be you anexcursionist or a trekking lover, a family, a child, or a member of a school group.

Hint from Infoelba: :At present you can follow the trails that go from Marciana Marina to Fonza (on the western ring road of the island) because they are clear and access is easy, and constant efforts mean the trail is near completion.
