From 28 August to 13 September 2026, the International Festival Elba Isola Musicale d'Europa returns to the Isola d'Elba, celebrating the important milestone of its 30th edition this year. This special anniversary will involve all the municipalities: Portoferraio, Capoliveri, Marciana, Marciana Marina, Porto Azzurro, Marina di Campo and Rio.
As tradition dictates, the Festival will bring together music, art and the local area, hosting over 70 musicians from 24 different countries and presenting a programme ranging from the Baroque repertoire and chamber music to jazz and contemporary music.
To celebrate the thirtieth anniversary of the event, some of the artists most closely associated with the Festival's history will return. The grand finale will feature pianist Martha Argerich, performing in the closing concert on 13 September at the Teatro dei Vigilanti in Portoferraio. The most eagerly awaited guests also include Gidon Kremer, who will pay tribute to Astor Piazzolla at the Fortezza Pisana in Marciana, and Mario Brunello, who will appear at two events, including the traditional concert surrounded by nature near the Santuario della Madonna di Monserrato.
Tributes and special projects
The 2026 edition will feature numerous tributes to great composers. The Festival's opening concert will commemorate the 400th anniversary of the birth of Louis Couperin, while other concerts will celebrate Carl Maria von Weber and Benjamin Britten. Another highlight among the special events is the return of French pianist Arielle Beck, a previous winner of the Elba Festival Prize, who will present a composition written especially for the Festival's thirtieth anniversary.
The Elba Festival Orchestra, founded in 2022, is also confirmed and continues to represent one of the event's most significant projects, bringing together young musicians and established artists in an important international training experience.
- Portoferraio is once again the heart of the Festival, with numerous concerts hosted at the Teatro dei Vigilanti "Renato Cioni" and the Centro Culturale De Laugier. However, the programme will extend across the entire island, with events in Marciana Marina, Marina di Campo, Rio, Capoliveri, Marciana and Porto Azzurro, showcasing historic locations and highly evocative settings.
As in previous editions, there will also be encounters with jazz. The leading artists in 2026 will include Danilo Rea, American guitarist Peter Bernstein and Belgian musician Tcha Limberger, while silent cinema will once again meet live music with a screening of Buster Keaton's Go West accompanied by the Ensemble improCinema.
