Programme for the 2015 Edition

For the 19th edition of the Festival a new, stronger input was wanted for this special event in Elba, so this year's special guests will be the Fontainebleau Camerata, an international group of young musicians (from 8 different countries) of very important artistic value. Performing in Elba will be their first international debut, because up till now they have done so only in the place where they all started, La Loingtaine, the nineteenth century farm in Montigny-sur-Loing in France. On this occasion, they will perform as a chamber orchestra accompanied by soloists and divided into chamber groups.

The Festival will start with an exceptional event: whole sonatas and variations for cello and piano by Beethoven, done by Mario Brunello and Andrea Lucchesini.

The Moldavian violinist Alexandra Conunova, winner of the 3rd Cajkovskij International Competition that ended at the beginning of July, will also be taking part, as well as the world wide famous Serbian violinist Gordan Nicolic who is also the director of the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra.

This year too there will also be other long time artists, like the pianist Evgenij Koroliov and Ksenia Bashmet, as well as the group Moscow Chamber Soloist Players, who, with the director of music of the Festival Yuri Bashmet, will give two concerts in the second part of the Festival.

As with all the previous years, the programme of classical music will be enriched with two jazz intervals by the world famous American percussionist Ray Mantilla who brings his Latin Tinge project to the island as well as the Italian jazz star Cristina Zavalloni, with the Special Dish. project

Another tradition that is encouraged by the Festival, thanks to significant support on behalf of the Festival Friends Association, is the special 2015 Elba Festival Prize given to a young talent, chosen from those brought to the attention of the directors in the last few months. This appreciation reflects the true spirit of the festival, whose main aim is to encourage new artists, even by giving them the chance to confront themselves with others who are already famous. This year the winner was the French oboist Clarisse Moreau.
