Scuba diving at Punta Fetovaia

Scuba diving here can be challenging not only because of the depth you are swimming at but also because the tip is open to both the wind and the currents.

and this explains why the water is almost always crystal clear.

As you go down a large bed of posidonia mixed with rocks you will probably come across a lot of groupers. At a depth of approximately 20 metres, where you will see the many groups of large rocks plunge right down deep into the seabed, you will see the soft coral is king here because it is rich in very surprising dens and burrows that are the homes of: groupers, crayfish, large redfish, sea spirographs, mostella fish and blunt-headed holy-fish that swim around the soft coral in search of dogfish eggs for food.

At a depth of approximately 45 metres, if the water is clear enough, swim away from the bottom of the rocks and head eastwards and you will come across thewreck of a small barge that in the past was used when they had to lay underwater cables, and you will see some crayfish swimming around what is left of it.

The seabed rewards you with many different colours that seem to dance before you: they go from the bright red of the sea fans to the golden yellow of the sponges and the bright yellow of the parazoanthus.

While you are scuba diving here make sure you look all around you because you won't want to miss the groupers as well as many other species of fish that will no doubt swim past.

At a depth of approximately 10 metres don't forget to explore the huge rocks so you can see the sea beams, moray eels and nudibranchs.
