Not far from Porto Azzurro, sailing south-eastwards for approximately three miles, halfway between the tiny island of Liscoli and Capo Calvo, we get to Punta Nera.
The best part of scuba diving here is viewing thewreck of a small, tourist plane that lies at a depth of 12 metres. It is an eight seater twin engine plane that is still in good condition and is lying on its side in flight attitude on a bed of posidonia at the bottom of the sea.
The motor on the left has broken off and lies on the sand. The cockpit is completely covered in a layer of sponges and bryozoa while inside the wreck many conger and moray eels have built their dens. All around the wreck you will see large shoals of damselfish and saddled bream.
Scuba diving here is both very easy and short, but the fact that you can also see the wreck of a plane makes it all the more suggestive
