Duty chemists

Chemists on the Island of Elba are divided into four groups, and there is one in each group that is open every evening. In chemists that are in what is classified as a rural area, that is, where a commune has less than 25 thousand of a population, as is Elba, chemists are not open during the night, so you have to either phone if you need one or literally ring the door bell. Emergency medical service is agreed upon by the chemists every other week in:

• Campo nell'Elba, Procchio, Marciana Marina and Marciana
• Porto Azzurro and Capoliveri
• Rio Marina, Cavo and Rio nell'Elba
• The three chemists in Portoferraio

The shift starts when the chemist opens on Saturday mornings and ends the following Saturday when the chemist opens. The chemist is open to the full during the morning opening hours on Sundays and holidays, while if you need medecine when the chemist is closed in the afternoon or during the night it is given only if you have a doctor's prescription that has been written out when the chemist was closed.
